Went to do a fresh install yeaterday and it sat there for over 30 minutes attempting to update Calamares. I finally rebooted and disabled updating Calamares and got to install the system. I would suggest not having the installer set to auto update Calamares. It’s really unnecessary.
No suggestions on how to force the Calamares installer update so I don’t have to disable the update for it?
The installer was set to auto-update because the installer would fail mid-installation when the package lists were outdated. That was after downloading hundreds of MB or even over a GB of packages. I will investigate how to solve the problem of Github being difficult to reach.
This problem is not reproducible on my computer/ISP, so if you can boot up the live ISO and try to start the installer, and then share the logs with me (click on About > Logs on the ISO Welcome app), it would help me resolve the problem sooner.

I believe I select the wrong items for installing the DKMS nVidia drivers and end ended up setting at loading Plymouth after noticing during install it saying the kernel modules aren’t installed. Can you please which I should select for the default Arch kernel and a nVidia 3060? Thanks
nvidia-dkms works for 3060. You may want to chroot from a live ISO and add the plymouth module to kernel mode setting. Follow section 2.1 here: Plymouth - ArchWiki and then run sudo mkinitcpio -P. Was there a Plymouth option in the installer? It needs a module to be loaded by mkinitcpio

I’ll bookmark your post for now cause the current install looks great. Only Issue I’m seeing is Krunner search box disappearing after x-amount on the desktop. This seems to be A issue with Plasma 6. Would love to be able to toss it on a panel as a work around til they get the issue addressed. Fresh install and by the 3rd time I clicked on the desktop to search for something it had already disappeared. If I do a reboot it’s back but for only so long.

Here’s the inxi -G for Reborn I’ll grab Garuda’s later. After the last time of loosing Krunner I decided to enter it in the terminal and it popped up. Seems to be staying right now. The only odd thing was that there was no output in the terminal for it after i typed krunner and hit enter, but it popped up instantly. I can live with that if it’s got Krunner running.

That said all else is sweet. Was able to select everything you offered that I wanted and installed in 8 minutes. Pre-selecting the additional apps probably save me 45 minutes to an hour installing them once on the desktop. Very nicely done.

Just ran a test,
the 2024 08 03 installer worked for me without any problems using online installation for KDE over Wifi.
( … btw. I am too very happy with RebornOs running it on 2 of my computers, thanks team … )

Sorry but that tells us NOTHING. Rather you have Calamares set to update or not update the online installer for the OS still works on the version of Calamares in the ISO. What may happen is if you leave the setting under advance to attempt to update Calamares before doing the actual install it may hang never updating Calamares and thus never installing the OS.
now I understand your point, thanks for the stressing your directive… I would say it should be tested because if you are right some newbie people gets discouraged using RebornOs, (?)
I am unable to encounter the problem from my side. I may need the assistance of someone who does encounter this problem to diagnose it
All I know is both times I left the installer to update Calamares it just sat there doing nothing. I gave you the log files so I don’t know what else you would need. I would think this is more likely a network issue with Calamares itself which when set to not update Calamares first resolves itself for the OS install. Not sure why you wanted just the graphics info above, but here’s my full inxi -F.

It could be an ISP related thing.
Run the below single line command on the RebornOS live ISO to see if a package is downloaded under ~/Downloads:

Thanks I’ll try that for you either later today or tomorrow, but to be honest there is no reason to have to update Calamares before doing an install.
