Switching DE Issue

I’m not sure whether this is the right place, but better to ask than not.
I tried to change the Desktop Environment (Not really but I still don’t know how to change window manager within the DE lol), and after logging to Openbox… only the launcher would work. Anything else was useless, even logging out. (I’m also not used to having issues with DEs so I don’t know what file to mod, lol)

Hello!

What desktop did you previously install and how did you attempt to change it?

Also, what do you want to change to?

I did not install any other desktop beforehand, and I switched through the session manager (I think it was called). And what I wanted was to change KWin for Openbox, and to make LXQt themes actually work for the windows. Although if there’s an easier way, I’d gladly read it.

So do you finally want to use LXQt?

It’s been my goal for quite a while, is there any issue regarding LXQt on Reborn for it to have bugs? Or did I do something wrong?

If you are connected to the internet, you can install

yay -S lxqt nm-tray sddm slock

Then you can enable and launch sddm

sudo systemctl enable --now sddm

Find a menu on the screen where you can choose LXQt and then login.

hm… my real issue would be to return to sddm. Not to install it or anything. Since I set up the os to login automatically during boot, and like I said Openbox (Which I still wonder why did it become default on it’s own, lol) just won’t let me log out. So, you got any command to log out back to sddm?

I think you didn’t get what I was trying to do. I am using LXQt on Reborn, until an hour or two ago that I was trying to replace the KWin Window Manager with Openbox to see if it’d change the theme to what I wanted. But, apparently doing that broke Openbox right away and I was hoping to find a solution to returning to the session manager, and hopefully back to LXQt.

You don’t have to worry about logging out. Just save everything you are working on and close all the open apps. SDDM will launch when you run the second command.

Did you encounter any error messages?

Somehow, nope. It seemed rather like a soft-lock, no error messages, but not working as it should either. And well, if that helps me I could. I might go off for a bit to try it before replying.

The above commands I shared will still fix LXQt if it is broken. SDDM can give you options to choose a session

Nvm, I found out the issue. It was showing on my tv, and I had it off. Sorry to bother!.

I wonder if there’s a way for all distros to focus on one monitor by default.

Do I make a second post but for theming on lxqt?
Because I’m pretty sure my main issue is still not solved. That being windows not responding to the theme I set

Feel free to do so. You can
