Hi @jeetsrs ,
In order to help you and to test it on my computer,
- Could you also let me know which theme you use currently? You can check this through the
gnome-tweaks
application that you may install using the below command:
sudo pacman -S --needed gnome-tweaks
-
Please also let me know if you use any display scaling / font scaling and possible numerical values for it.
-
Do you have any other desktops installed on the side? If so, which ones?
WM Theme: Qogir-dark
Theme: Qogir [GTK2/3]
Icons: Qogir [GTK2/3]
No screen scaling or font scaling being used.
Seems there is an open issue with this topic on the Gnome Reddit/Github related to external media being attached.
In my case I have a second HDD attached (internal SATA drive) being used as a TimeShift backup drive which automounts.

Hi @jeetsrs,
You are right that there is an upstream bug causing the header bar to be too big. I tested the same on my laptop. When the upstream bug is fixed, you can contact us to compile and package the fixed version (even when an official package is not yet released for Arch Linux). Until then, perhaps you can use Gnome’s Image Viewer (officially called as Eye of Gnome). The below command installs it if you do not already have it installed:
sudo pacman -S --needed eog
It will appear as Image Viewer in your list of applications.
