Is there a safe way to remove slick greeter and return to lightdm-gtk greeter?
I uninstalled slick-greeter but found that I had no login screen and had to go into root maintenance to reinstall slick-greeter again.
- Install
lightdm-gtk-greeter
sudo pacman -S lightdm-gtk-greeter
- Edit
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
to change
greeter-session=lightdm-slick-greeter
to
greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter
You can use a text editor of your choice. Like
sudo xed /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
(If you are using Cinnamon)
or
sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf
(Console editor, but works on all RebornOS desktops)
-
Then Save, exit, and reboot
-
If everything is fine after reboot, you can uninstall
lightdm-slick-greeter
Thanks, that worked perfectly.
The mistake that I originally made was when editing the lightdm.conf file I had greeter-session=lightdm-gtk but left off -greeter at the end.
